OVER 25 YEARS LEADING MOVEMENT AND MIND-BODY PRACTICES
Qigong & Tai Chi
A synchronicity, an alignment of the stars, call it what you will - the Tao led Kele to train with qigong master Lee Holden as a way to recover from the whiplash injuries she suffered in a car accident. Holden Qigong became Kele's daily self-care practice, finding that the qigong helped her regain flexibility and balance, calm her anxieties about unexpectedly starting a new career, and reunite her with her inner knowing and connection to the greater whole.
She can see flowing and blocked energy in a person's movement, and utilizes a variety of techniques and methods to help the person learn how to nurture and facilitate their own energy improvements.
Known for her highly-tuned sensitivity to energy in movement, one qigong teacher trainee recently said, “Your coaching style is like a wave of warm water, gently lapping at the shoreline. Your encouraging kindness, along with keen insight, is communicated at just the right time and intensity to support my comfortable learning and development process.”
Her dance career ended due to whiplash injuries from a car accident. Daily practices of Holden Qigong became and continue to be her therapeutic self-care.
Kele has been teaching Holden Qigong and Tai Chi Easy™ since 2015. She regularly works with people dealing with cancer and Parkinson’s Disease, as well as those who are managing everyday aches and pains and seeking to take charge of their own wellness and quality of life.
A native New Yorker, Kele holds a BSc in Drama from Northwestern University and numerous internationally recognized dance teaching qualifications. She is a certified Alexander Technique teacher, and a Tai Chi Easy™ and Integral Qigong and Tai Chi facilitator. She has also assisted Dr. Roger Jahnke at Tai Chi Easy™ training events.

Kele is honoured to have received NQA Level 2 Qigong Instructor certification. According to the NQA website, "This level demonstrates deeper levels of Qi experience, a higher degree of cultural and intellectual understanding of practice, and a greater knowledge and appreciation of its benefits. This level not only provides instruction in technical forms but strives to increase in their students inner Qi-awareness and to improve their quality of life."
Prior to teaching qigong and tai chi, Kele had an extensive career in ballroom, Latin and tango dancing. A synchronicity led her into a ballroom studio in New York City, and at her first lesson Kele 'knew' it was her path to dance and teach partner dancing.
Kele spent over 20 years in the ballroom dance world. She was a dancer, a teacher, a choreographer (on Strictly Come Dancing, the UK's top television program), an event organizer and fundraiser, a studio co-director, and a program developer at an award-winning Caribbean spa resort.
Her passion for teaching and helping students achieve, have fun and grow in confidence through the joy of dance, led her to work with a diverse range of pupils including celebrities, leading theatre companies, corporate clients, holiday-makers, and avid hobbyists.
The car accident redirected Kele away from dancing, but the good news is that it led her to therapeutic qigong and tai chi.
For nine years, Kele co-choreographed and coached the Argentine tangos on BBC1's hit show Strictly Come Dancing (UK version of Dancing With the Stars). Kele also choreographed on national television and stage.
For over a decade, Kele was co-director of London’s elegant Kensington Dance Studio. She and her co-director Ralf Schiller taught one-to-one lessons and group classes, worked in partnership with numerous talented dance teachers, organised workshops with professional dancers from BBC1's Strictly Come Dancing, and ran medallist exams. From foxtrot to tango, cha cha cha to jive, Kele and Ralf kept their wide variety of social dance students bopping and swinging, learning and laughing.
Along with being co-director of the Kensington Dance Studio, Kele taught lessons, classes, courses and master classes for numerous schools, colleges and universities, including LAMDA, London Studio Centre, London School of Musical Theatre, Oxford University Dancesport Society and University of London Dancesport.
Kele's numerous corporate clients include the Royal Shakespeare Company (dance classes available to 800 members company-wide) and BBC Worldwide (company-wide dance classes and special event choreography and coaching).
Kele was the founder and, for 13 years, the organizer of Dance Al Fresco, an annual series of outdoor charity fundraising dance parties that raised over £70,000 for tree planting in London's Regent's Park.
A chance meeting during a restorative holiday led Kele to be invited to create Jive June, a ballroom dance program at the award-winning resort The BodyHoliday LeSPORT on the beautiful island of St. Lucia. Besides teaching ballroom, Latin and tango classes, Kele coached the local activity staff to provide classes to guests as part of their year-round schedule. Hotel guests attended classes in salsa, cha cha cha, jive, Argentine tango, foxtrot and waltz. Many continued dancing when they returned home from their holidays. Kele ran the program for three years. When she stopped teaching dance, Kele handed the program over to Strictly Come Dancing colleagues Robin Windsor and Andrew Cuerden.

Education & Training
Kele attended The Dalton School in New York City, and still keeps in touch with her friends in blue and gold. We go forth unafraid...!
Four cold but education-filled winters in Evanston, IL earned Kele a BSc in theater from Northwestern University (School of Communications). Kele attended all home football games during her four years, including the 3 1/2 year all-time losing streak. Kele still wears her purple with pride, and was thrilled to fulfill her undergraduate promise to attend the Rose Bowl if Northwestern ever won the Big Ten division.
Kele completed a post-graduate training year at LAMDA (London Academy of Music & Dramatic Arts), where she focused on classical acting, movement, stage combat, and had her first experiences with the Alexander Technique under the unique and compelling tutelage of Glynn MacDonald.
